Health & Safety
Successful health and safety management is imperative on all construction projects; whether big or small.
At Harris Carpentry Ltd, we pride ourselves on our excellent H&S record and are continuously striving to improve this area of our business.
We have worked with a dedicated H&S Advisor for many years, who helps us to ensure we go above and beyond in ensuring our operatives and those impacted by our work are safe.
We are pleased to have gained a SMAS Worksafe Certificate and CHAS accreditation for the past several years. This means that we have met the SSIP core criteria recognised by the HSE and other SSIP accreditation schemes. Meeting the SSIP Core Criteria demonstrates that we are serious about H&S and have (and use) an effective H&S Management System to ensure that any work they are engaged in is, so far as reasonably practical, carried out without risk to health and safety.
Our operatives
All our operatives hold valid CSCS Cards, which are regularly checked. To ensure our works are carried out safely, all our site managers and supervisors have SMSTS and SSSTS qualifications, respectively. We also ensure that at least one First Aider is allocated to each site.
Environmental Policy
The importance of environmental protection is ever-increasing, as the awareness of our impact on the planet grows.
At Harris Carpentry Limited, we ensure that all our staff and carpenters work in an environmentally and socially responsible way. We organise and carry out works in a manner which will reduce, as far as reasonably possible, noise and dust.
When supplying materials, we ensure that all timber and sheet materials come from PEFC and/or FSC certified suppliers. We also seek to use local suppliers, as well local labour, to support communities and reduce our carbon footprint.
